Goji plants

Goji is a woody shrub-like plant that grows wild for centuries and succeeds the plateau of Tibet and the Himalayas. In extreme weather conditions, Tibetans have used Goji berries like food and medicaments, which helped the survival and allowed a long and healthy life. Fiery red berries, also called red diamonds, have been used for 2000 years in traditional Tibetan and Chinese medicine. They are natural help for exhaustion of body, for revitalization of general health condition, improve vision, relief of painful joints symptoms, protection, better liver and heart activity and longevity of life.

Goji (Lycium barbarum) is a shrub that grows from 1 to 3 meters in height and blooms from June to September, the fruits are ripe in early August to October, time for the picking or shaking resulting fruit drop. Goji Fruits are long orange-red juicy berries with a length of 1 to 2 cm. They can be eaten raw, dried, special flavor reminiscent of raisins. Berries are used to prepare teas and juices, liqueurs, like addition to wine, yogurt or hot milk. Goji berries are included on the menu as an ingredient of many recipes with rice, chicken and pork, and as addition to salads.

We can plant Goji seedlings in garden, yard, orchard. Given that it is not necessary to spray this plant, Goji is eco fruit.

In China, there are huge plantations of Goji, planting is expanding in the U.S. and in Germany.

Goji berries are used in medicine for ages as an ingredient of many recipes because of their remarkable properties. Chinese medicine uses leaves and stem of Goji bark for tea. In England Goji plants are present from the late 18th century and adopted as an ornamental and edible plants.

Their popularity began the early 21st century, when the results of medical research have confirmed its potentially positive health effects.

In 2008, Time Magazine declared Goji berries super fruit of year. The last few years, Goji berries have rapidly won the European and American markets. Studies have confirmed the healing properties of Goji berries, which contain 18 amino acids, necessary for life, 21 minerals, contain a lot of vitamins, amino acids and other substances absolutely necessary for a healthy and long life.
